Heat Pump Installation:
Newcastle & Gateshead

EcoFuture is one of the leading air source heat pump installation companies across Newcastle and Gateshead. With over 30 years’ worth of experience, we’ve created a start-to-finish heat pump solution that is unrivalled.

Newcastle Heat Pump Installers

With energy bills continuing to soar, heat pumps provide an alternative to gas that can reduce energy bills by hundreds of pounds a month. We create custom surveys for each project to see where your current systems are failing and where a brand-new heat pump installation can save you money.

The team then creates a plan of action which includes recommendations on pump types, changes that can be made to existing setups, the timeframe of work, and award-winning aftercare support. Our engineers are then on hand to maintain your system with yearly services to ensure maximum efficiency and reduced energy usage.

EcoFuture works with the government on their Boiler Upgrade Scheme that allows customers to claim up to £5,000 off the installation cost of the heat pump. This initiative runs from April 2022 through April 2025, so don’t hesitate to get in touch to claim.

Process: Air Source Heat Pump Install

Install Process

At EcoFuture we pride ourselves on the ability to manage projects to an exceptionally high standard, offering the state of the art heat pumps and creating some of the most efficient heating systems in the industry.

As one of the leading heat pump installers in Newcastle, Gateshead, and across the North East, we have strived to create a process that is transparent and fuss-free. We invest our time into your heating system, allowing you not only to get the best possible solution for your home but also unrivaled workmanship throughout the process.

Each project that we undertake is fully customisable. This includes everything from full heat pump installations right down to a thorough survey to see how EcoFuture can transform your home.

We pride ourselves on heat pumps, solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, and high-efficiency boilers. Regardless of the size of the job, don’t hesitate to talk to one of our specially trained team who will be able to guide you with the next step in your eco-friendly journey.

The first step in our process is a consultation. We want to get to know what you want from your heat pump and how we can help. You’re about to invest in your property, so we want to make sure that you’re aware of all products and services that we can assist you with.

Following the initial consultation, we then carry out an extensive heat loss survey. Our highly trained engineers will assess the current heating setup and highlight where we think we can make your system more efficient and ultimately save you money. The survey takes around two hours to complete and is a great chance to cover any queries you might have face-to-face.

The heat loss survey will tell us what is and isn’t working in your current setup. It will then allow us to recommend your products that we think are going to make the biggest difference. We’re able to quote using only the best products in the industry, such as Vaillant and GivEnergy, so you know that you’re paying for quality.

Quotes can be tailored around budgets. Please discuss this with your engineer who can provide a price for a range of services and products, which you can then choose as you see fit.

Once you’re happy and you’ve signed off on your new heat pump installation, it’s time to get to work. With over 30 years’ worth of experience at EcoFuture, our engineers are highly skilled, which means that disruption is kept to a minimum while ensuring the highest possible workmanship. We not only give you a start and finish date but also keep you up to date as the installation progresses.

At EcoFuture we want to ensure that your new heat pump installation is working as well on day one as it is 10 years down the line. Our team is on hand to not only get your heating system running as efficiently as possible but also to answer any queries or address any issues you might be having later down the line. We offer annual service packages which allow us to make sure that your heating system is as efficient as possible.

How Do Air Source heat Pumps Work?

How do they work?

smart technology

Heat PumpHeat pumps have been designed to heat or cool air particles. For heating systems, the heat pump draws in air from the outside and compresses the particles within the air. When air is compressed, it gets warmer and can be pushed throughout a heating system to heat your home.

The heat pumps are powered by electricity, which makes them much more sustainable than gas boilers as they emit no carbon dioxide. They also use a lot less energy to power, making these sorts of heat pumps a lot cheaper to run.

We’ve tested dozens of products within the industry to find what we think are the best heat pumps on the market. We’ve teamed with the likes of Vaillant and GivEnergy to offer state-of-the-art boilers and heat systems.

As all air source heat pumps run exclusively on electricity if you want to reduce your bills even further and decrease your carbon footprint again you can pair your heat pump install with solar panels.

Heat Pumps & Solar

PAIRING WITH OTHER SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY

Heat Pumps SolarAlong with heat pumps, we also offer a wide range of solar-powered products. In fact, we are one of the leading solar distributors and installers in the Northeast, with a lot of our clients opting to link both solar power and a sustainable heat pump system with their installation.

The beauty of solar power is that it’s free energy (like a heat pump) meaning that it can massively reduce energy bills. We’ve designed systems that work to both partially and fully offset all heating costs using solar power instead of mains electricity.

Our solar PV systems can be used in one of two ways. You can feed any energy you don’t use back into the grid, essentially being paid for doing so, or you can store it in our high-capacity batteries, for use later.

Speak with one of our engineers to see how much of your daily heat pump operating costs can be offset by solar power or read more on our Solar panel installaton page.

Can Anyone Have An Air Source Heat Pump?

At EcoFuture we’re confident that we’re able to provide a heat pump solution for the vast majority of homes. Our air source heat pump systems are designed in a way that they can either fully replace a current setup or work to partially power an existing heating system.

We’re able to design and fully install hybrid systems, which are used when our survey suggests that the heat pump alone will not be sufficient to power the whole home. This allows the home to enjoy the benefits that come from the heat pump, as well as a backup with gas.

However, given that we only use the most efficient products on the market, our surveys usually suggest that we’re able to do full conversions, allowing customers to create a fully sustainable system for their homes.

How Much Do They Cost to Run?

Each system we create is unique and bespoke. The running costs that are involved are going to vary based on the size of your home and the outlets you want to heat (radiators, underfloor heating, etc.) which then reflects on the amount of money they cost to run.

It’s important to understand how the system works before you can work out how much they are to run. Each heat pump comes with a Coefficient of Performance (CoP) which is essentially the amount of heat that the pump can produce for every unit of electricity used to power it.

The average CoP for a heat pump is around 3 CoP, meaning that it produces 3 units of heat for every 1 unit of electricity. However, as we use some of the most efficient products in the industry, our heat pumps have a CoP of up to 5.2 CoP, which creates a massive saving based on standard energy usage.

For example, the average house uses 2,900 kWh of electricity at the market cap rate of 34p, plus 12,000 kWh of gas at 10p per unit per year. The total price per year for this would be £2,186.

For the heat pump to provide the same amount of heating usage, we would remove the gas usage completely, and add in 2,300 kWh of electricity needed to compensate for the 12,000 kWh of gas usage.

This would make for a total electricity usage of 5,200 kWh per year at the market cap rate of 34p/kWh, giving you a total spend of £1,768.

Therefore, the typical house would save a massive £418 per year using one of our heat pump systems.

If you couple this with the £5,000 government-led Boiler Upgrade Scheme, then it means that the savings you make per year on bills will offset the total installation cost in just a few years.

You can take this one step further by adding solar panels and battery storage systems to your home to provide most of the power needed for your heat pump. We’ve multiple clients that have gone down this route and are now at a point where their heating bills are fully covered by the solar energy generated, removing both gas and electricity bills in their entirety.

Heat Pump Pros & Cons

As a leading air source heat pump installers in Newcastle and Gateshead, we’ve been fortunate enough to work with a wide range of clients. Here are some pros and cons regarding heat pumps that we want to make you aware of from projects we’ve worked on.

Air Source Heat Pump Installation

At EcoFuture we provide a start-to-finish installation process. But what does that mean exactly?

We kick things off with our heat loss survey and meet the client to address any questions or concerns. The installation process is then outlined and we start work on the date agreed upon.

Each home is different, so the timescales for installation work will differ. Our engineers are fully trained in both gas and electrical work, allowing them to not only install the heat pump but also set the pump up to work in the most efficient manner possible.

Ideally, we would be able to hook the heat pump up to the current system and for it to start working immediately. However, to increase efficiency we sometimes need to address things like piping, heating outlets (radiators, underfloor heating, etc.), areas of major heat loss, and the location of the heat pump.

All this work is highlighted once our survey has been completed and agreed on.

The installation process starts with installing the heat pump to the exterior of the property. This needs to be in an area that is not restricted in terms of airflow, but ideally somewhere that is concealed enough that it doesn’t intrude with the outdoor living area.

The pump is linked to a hot water cylinder, which is heated using the compressor and air drawn from outside. The cylinder is connected to a hydraulic module that tells the cylinder when water is needed to heat the home.

Our products come with a range of smart control options and apps to make heating your home very easy. We can discuss what products are going to be best for you within your heat loss survey.
