Stocksfield - Upgraded Heating System
Our client based in Stocksfield reached out to us at EcoFuture, as they were looking to overhaul their outdated heating system. They were looking to future-proof their property with an efficient system that could easily accommodate and warm their 13 bedroom home.
We provided them with a full mechanical package that includes; 2x Vaillant 10kw aroTHERM Plus Air Source Heat Pumps, Underfloor heating throughout the kitchen/ dining area/ utility area and radiator upgrades. We also installed a full plantroom that included a 300L Vaillant hot water cylinder, Vaillant 120 Heat Exchanger and 3x VDM units.
With their heating now fully upgraded to a bespoke system, they will see the benefits straight away in terms of energy efficiency as well as their heating bills.

About this system design
Maximum Efficiency
We started the project by focusing on the underfloor heating section of the property first. We designed, specified and installed the UFH system which runs through the kitchen, dining room, downstairs toilet and utility area of the property. This consisted of a screed finish (50-60mm high retention insulated screed pumped in) and clipped UFH system.
While the underfloor heating section of the property was progressing and the insulated screed was curing, we started work on the plantroom and air source heat pump phase of the project.
We installed 2x aroTHERM Plus 10kw Air source heat pumps from Vaillant. These cascade units were fitted with anti-vibration feet and tails, and then positioned on either side of the plantroom entrance. The bespoke plantroom was then fitted with a 300L Vaillant hot water cylinder along with 3x VDM units, a Vaillant 120 heat exchanger and a 100L Buffer.
It’s always a pleasure working on bespoke plant rooms such as this, especially with the addition of underfloor heating! This being paired with heat pumps is simply a match made in heaven.

Our Stocksfield based client went for a whole new plant room combined with two 10kw Vaillant aroTHERM Plus Air Source Heat Pumps and an Underfloor Heating system. The new plant room area will significantly reduce the clients co2 emissions and have a huge impact on their annual energy bills.
The underfloor heating system will provide an even temperature across the kitchen/ dining area which can be controlled via third party smart controls, and the radiator upgrades will help boost the homeowners heating efficiency.
As Air Source Heat Pumps are 400% efficient, the duel cascade system we have installed will provide more than enough energy to power the clients hot water and heating needs!

How did we install this system?
The project was split across three stages, one part consisted of the underfloor heating and radiator system, another was the installation of the two 10kw Vaillant heat pumps and lastly the installation of the plantroom components.
For the underfloor portion of the installation we stripped and prepped the floor area, then laid a visqueen damp proof membrane over insulation before fitting the clipped UFH system. A high retention screed was then pumped into the target areas and left to cure before solid wood floors were laid. While the screed was drying we finished fitting the upgraded radiators.
The second phase of the project went by without issue. The heat pumps were mounted atop of anti vibration feet and tails, with all electrical connections wired.
The last phase was the all new custom designed plantroom, consisting of a 300L Vaillant hot water cylinder, 3x Vaillant VDM units, Vaillant heat exchanger and 100L Vaillant buffer. The plantroom was installed without issue, and a full handover with commission was provided with the homeowner.
