How does Start At Home work?
Eligible heating engineers could benefit from up to £7,500* worth of heat pump kit and expert support for installing it in their own home or the home of a close relative. Partnering with a scheme organiser** can help reduce the cost and paperwork of getting a heat pump and provides additional support and training benefits.

Conduct a heat loss calculation and design your system, with support from the scheme provider.
Order your heat pump, hot water cylinder and heat pump specific components from the scheme provider.

Start at home - Overview
Decarbonising home heating is a key priority in the UK’s strategy to cut emissions, and heat pumps are expected to play a pivotal role. The UK government and the Climate Change Committee have both emphasised that large-scale deployment will be essential to meeting the country’s net-zero target.
To achieve this the UK needs a confident and competent workforce, and the Start at Home project addresses this gap. Offering newly trained installers the opportunity to fit an air source heat pump in their own home not only reinforces technical skills but also builds confidence with the technology.
